St. Louis Linux Users Group
Filesystem in Userspace (FUSE)
Presented By: Steven Lembark
Filesystem in Userspace (FUSE) is a linux extension that allows unprivileged users to access various types of storage services without superuser access to mount them. Examples include 'sshfs' for file access via SSH or 'encfs' for an encrypted filesystem. FUSE gives linux users this added flexibility without the overhead or security risks of granting superuser to acces them.
This talk looks at the basic mechanism for FUSE and examines some of the tradeoffs using them and how to use a few of the common ones.
